Going on a paper diet! The skinny on paperless…
I have to say as an accountant I see more than my fair share of paper. Boxes and boxes of receipts, invoices, cheques, bank statements and visa statements month in and month out.
Our firm has a whole room plus storage dedicated to paper, the filing and protection of these documents for the required amount of years. After filling this room, several filing cabinets and storage we are determined to reduce and go on a paper diet.
Slowly, we have moved year end files to an electronic format and enjoy having access to requested documents at our finger tips. This year we implemented a process to move our personal tax files we will be armed to answer all CRA’s requests in July 2011 with electronically sent faxes well within the timeframe required by CRA.
Can small business go paperless for day to day activities? Yes you can!! CRA has recognized paperless records, for more information click here for CRA Information on Paperless Record Keeping.
If you would like assistance or advise on going paperless give us a call and let us help you go on a paper diet!
Comments and questions are always welcome!
Cheers
Alana
